Dear Pastor, Dodie & Lisa:
As you will recall, on Sunday morning January 5, 1997, I came from the back of the church on crutches and was healed. I then walked around the church holding the crutches over my head.
You need to know that the previous Monday, my family doctor of 19 years, Dr. Stanley Zimmerman, said that either the cartilage under my knee cap was torn, or the main knee joint itself had a torn cartilage. It crunched terribly, very loud.
After the healing, my left knee no longer crunched, but the orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Marshall Frumin, who is a customer of my A/C company, examined me on Monday, the day after I was healed. He found a very sore spot when he pressed in just one tiny spot on the knee joint. He said that I had a torn menisci ligament/cartilage.
He sent me to Memorial Hospital S.W. for an MRI of my left knee. MRI was performed January7, 1997, the Tuesday after my healing.
Friday morning, January 10, 1997, I returned to Dr. Frumin. He came into the examining room holding the MRI report. He had a strange, puzzled, and perturbed look on his face. He sat looking at me for what seemed an eternity. Then he said, "There is nothing wrong with your knee. You do have a stress fracture in the leg bone which is about 6 weeks old."
I asked, "What about the crunching reported by Dr. Zimmerman? What about the torn menisci whatever?"
Dr. Frumin just sat and looked at me without changing expression. I could tell that his mind was racing. Finally, he made a slight shrug and rocked his head. His body language said, "I have absolutely no idea what has happened." Then he said verbally, "All I can say is that your knee is OK, it is well."
I want you to know that I knew in advance that I would be healed. I told Terri Modlin, she told Talmadge and Jean Fletcher, and like Pastor says, telephone, telegraph, telewoman!!
As I was praying and reading my Bible at 3:30 a.m. the day before my knee was healed, the LORD put into my heart that I would be healed the next day. He told me to sit in the back of the church by the sound booth, go down for prayer on the side opposite where I normally sit, and after being healed, hold my crutches over my head and walk around the church. The LORD did not say which service and did not specify who would pray for me. It seemed clear to me that who did the praying was not an issue. I was prepared to go for healing in the evening if not healed in the morning.
I decided that a bad knee, though crucially important to me for A/C repairing, did not really compare to the serious problems that Dodie handles, so I decided it would be considerate to go to a prayer partner. However, Robin directed me to Dodie. I started to explain why not, but he was so insistent that I just obeyed (i.e., I shut up) and took the open spot before Dodie.
I hurt so much without crutches that I was gingerly trying out my left knee after Dodie prayed for me. I kept thinking maybe God would heal me at the evening service. As you know, I tested my knee for a few minutes and realized that I was HEALED!
PRAISE THE LORD!
Since I had given the crutches to Talmadge, as they were really borrowed from him, when I remembered that the LORD had told me to be healed and hold them in VICTORY over my head, I said, "Talmadge, give me the crutches!" He thought that I had lost my faith. Talmadge said, "No, don't lose your faith." I got verbally strong with him. I yelled at him. I saw the startled look on his face. He gave the crutches back to me.
Those closest to me realize better that anyone that I was miraculously healed. They knew that I had been in intense pain. My family in Baton Rouge: parents, two brothers, two sisters, and daughter saw me on crutches and in pain over the Christmas holidays. Terri, who works in my office, said that when I left for Baton Rouge she remembered that pain showed on my face. She was in church with me when I was healed. She says that before being healed, she could see the pain on my face. She said that I turned around from Dodie and the pained look was gone. Then she saw me raise the crutches and start walking around without any sign of discomfort. Terri said, "Right then and there I knew GOD was ALIVE." She said, "My faith more than tripled. All doubt is gone! GOD is real! My life is changed forever."
PRAISE GOD.
Yours in trying to be a most faithful servant of Christ,
Henry Wall
